I came to Canada in the early 2000s and I was in grade 8 and did not know any English. When I was at school one day, we went on a school trip to an indoor swimming pool. I started off swimming in the shallow end and I saw people going down the slide. I thought it was soo cool so I wanted to try it. I went over and waited in line. I got up to the top of the slide and went through the slide and in to the deep end. I immediately started to drown, I was sinking at thought that it was gonna die. Then all of a sudden a life guard saved me. From that day onwards I learned that there was a shallow end and a deep end. I was also petrified of swimming pools. And I still am to this day
